Catherine Walker, PhD
Dr. D. Catherine Walker earned her PhD in clinical psychology from the University at Albany where she conducted research in the Weight and Eating Disorders Laboratory on body image, male body image and eating issues, and mindfulness and acceptance-based treatments for disordered eating. Prior to that, Dr. Walker served as the project coordinator for NIMH-funded treatment study comparing three empirically supported treatments for binge eating disorder at Rutgers University Eating Disorders Clinic.
In our LiveWell program for eating disorders, Dr. Walker conducts individual psychotherapy and group therapy for the LiveWell program’s intensive outpatient program. She employs cognitive behavioral, mindfulness and acceptance-based therapeutic frameworks. In addition to treating eating and weight disorders, Dr. Walker has experience in treating anxiety and depression.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Walker has presented her research at international conferences, authored and co-authored several scholarly articles and book chapters on body image and eating disorders and has taught undergraduate courses at the University at Albany.
