HPA/LiveWell is now offering a series of Parent Support Group sessions at our Albany, NY location.
These parent support group sessions are designed to help parents and children cope with mental health and eating disorder issues, and will be open forums where you can bring your own concerns and questions.
Our first parent session will be on June 13, 2018.
June 13th: Proactive and Positive Parenting Skills
Are you tired of yelling? Do you find yourself wishing your child or teen was more respectful or compliant? Do you feel like you’ve run out of ideas? Join our pediatric specialist, Dr. Melissa Them, for a presentation followed by Q&A on parenting skills.
Topics to be discussed include:
- How to Set Age-Appropriate Expectations
- Giving Effective Commands
- Communicating Better (and More!)
- When to Seek Support
Dr. Melissa Them is a psychologist specializing in cognitive-behavioral therapy for children, adolescents and adults. Licensed in the State of New York, she earned her Doctoral Degree from the University of Albany, State University of New York and has extensive experience serving clients in the capital region. Dr. Them provides individual psychotherapy for patients ages six and up, as well as family therapy and parent training for parents with children of any age.
In addition to her training as a child and adolescent psychologist, Dr. Them has specific experience working with college students, as well as with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and their families. Dr. Them has extensive experience in psychological and educational assessment and provides these services to children, adolescents and adults − including consultation with schools where appropriate. Dr. Them is a member of the American Psychological Association and Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
